Community - Week 1

“The need for connection and community is primal, as fundamental as the need for air, water, and food.”
-Dean Ornish, American physician and photographer

The definition of community according to the Cambridge Dictionary is: the people living in one particular area or people who are considered as a unit because of their common interests, social group, or nationality.

The definition leaves out something essential: community is a basic need, as Dr. Dean Ornish’s quote reminds us. As social beings, we need to care for one another and accept care in return. This week, notice how people in your community support each other. How do you give and receive that support? Taking  mindfulness into our lives means being aware not only of ourselves but also of others.
