Discipline Week 4

"Some people regard discipline as a chore. For me, it is a kind of order that sets me free to fly."
— Julie Andrews

As we come to the end of the month on discipline, I realized that people may need to change their perspective or mindset. As Julie Andrews says discipline sets her free to fly. How can we do this? By changing the way we think about discipline, for example you decide to start walking, meditating, journaling, reading enlightening works, eating healthier, creating a plan for better wellness. You start out with an outcome in mind. I will be more fit, more intelligent, thinner, happier or whatever you have chosen as a result. After three weeks of consistency, you feel better, look better, are happier or whatever the goal was to achieve. So, you think I did it! I can stop. I have reached success.

This is when we need to rethink discipline, you are focused on an outcome, instead of the process. When you switch to a focus on the process, you find the joy in that, learning to be freer. The practice needs to become the key focus, not the end goal. When we can find the joy in the practice and the benefits it brings us daily, each time we practice, we will learn discipline.
