Discipline Week 1

“The poorer we are inwardly, the more we try to enrich ourselves outwardly.”

-Bruce Lee

Discipline according to Webster’s dictionary is the orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior.

What is your pattern of behavior? Is it what you want now, or can you recognize there are areas that warrant change, that can only be achieved over time? This month we will explore discipline, and consider why some people hate it, even though they know they need it, but still can’t commit to it.

Bruce Lee understood the value of mindset in this quote and how it can change the way we approach our lives. We think of him as a master martial artist, but his philosophy is what we will focus on this week and stir your interest to dig deeper into. In his short life, he unearthed wisdom, and discipline, creating his own unique path to success and mastery.

The following are his 6 Success Secrets.

1. Embrace failure as a natural part of gaining valuable insights. Then learn from them.

2. Carry a notebook everywhere. Write down affirmations, ideas, meetings, insights.

3. The power of repeated goal affirmation. He visualized his success.

4. Practice your craft constantly, this is key, the rest does not happen without commitment.

5. Constantly read a variety of subjects. There is so much to learn, and areas that seem at opposites find connection with knowledge.

6. Research and adapt. Be open to change.

Think and act like Bruce Lee on whatever your area is to excel, focus and flourish.

This week try carrying the notebook around or write down in the notes on your phone. Send yourself text messages. Be open to your own insights.
