Giving Grace- Week 2
“Grace, respect, reserve, and empathetic listening are qualities sorely missing from the public discourse now.”
- Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep made this statement back in 2017, more than eight years ago. Notice Streep starts the quote with the quality of grace. Read the quote once more and consider if her same thought is true now. If you answered this question with a yes, reflect when you exhibit these qualities. Many of us can display these core characteristics when we think about it, or plan to do it, or at the highest level, have ingrained it into our being. Since most of us do not fall into the second category of the highest level, we must practice, starting with giving grace.
This week we focus on giving grace that offers forgiveness without strings attached. That means we let go and forgive someone’s mistake even if we do not think they gave us a proper apology or truly atoned for it. It’s about you making a conscious choice to not hold the grudge and let go of the animosity. In this case you are giving grace to yourself and the other person. Something will happen this week that will be an opportunity for each of us to show another grace when they make a mistake. Can you accept this challenge?
