Self-Awareness Week 3

Know Thyself!

"Know thyself" (Greek: gnōthi seauton) is an ancient Greek aphorism inscribed on the Temple of Apollo at Delphi.

The ancient Greeks believed that self-knowledge was essential before any personal growth could take place.  A step to finding out more about yourself is to observe your connections with others. Although it may seem counterintuitive, when we serve others, we learn more about ourselves. Maybe you volunteer at a food bank, an animal shelter or your place of worship. If a consistent practice is difficult for you maybe you devote one day a month to service or even a few hours.  This is a process of stepping outside your own perspective to gain an understanding of the realities experienced by others. The intrinsic motivations of connection, kindness, and purpose can naturally emerge, contributing to your personal journey toward self-actualization.
