Community - Week 2

Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”

— Helen Keller

Because Keller was deaf and blind, she understood firsthand that personal strength matters, but meaningful progress often depends on the support, guidance, and community of others, including her teacher, Anne Sullivan. What can we learn from Keller when so many of us prefer to act alone and hesitate to seek help, even when in desperate need, because we view it as a weakness?

November, with its Thanksgiving traditions and transition toward winter, invites us to slow down, reflect, and practice gratitude before year’s end. Consider the communities in your life—friends, family, faith groups, coworkers, book clubs, mahjong circles, yoga groups, or workout partners. List the groups you belong to, noting both what you contribute and what you receive in return. Then pause to appreciate the strength and gratitude these connections inspire. That is the spirit of November.
