Giving Grace- Week 4

“It is unearned love–the love that goes before, that greets us on the way. It’s the help you receive when you have no bright ideas left, when you are empty and desperate and have discovered that your best thinking and most charming charm have failed you. Grace is the light or electricity or juice or breeze that takes you from that isolated place and puts you with others who are as startled and embarrassed and eventually grateful as you are to be there.”
― Anne Lamott

As I searched for a fitting quote to end the month on Giving Grace, I found Ann Lamott’s and immediately knew the search was over.  It is a reminder that there is grace everywhere, if we look a little harder. Just as I scanned the internet for a quote you can scan your world for the beauty in nature, and the generosity and grace of the people we encounter every day. One of my daily rituals is to write down who inspired me daily. Sometimes it might be a world-renowned figure, but usually it’s a person I met during my day. I admit I look for this inspiration, and many times it’s the most pleasant surprise. It encourages me to view my world with wonder, thinking who will it be today? Deepak Chopra's writing on gratitude journals inspired me to begin this practice, five years ago. It is always new because, every day you have different experiences even if you are with the same people. Another alternative would be to include inspiration from nature, a gorgeous sunrise or sunset, the amazing moon phases, the stars, the ocean. It reflects a mindset that recognizes the significance of human connection as well as the beauty and awe found in nature.

This week write down who or what inspired you daily!
