Renewal Week 3
“Sleep fully, then work intensely. Focus deeply, then relax completely. Give each phase your full attention.”
—James Clear author of Atomic Habits
This week we continue focusing on self-renewal through introspection. Clear’s quotation explains the main point, focus on what you are doing when you are doing it, whether it's resting, or working. Stop reading this and ask yourself, is this how I live? Or am I multitasking, distracted, wishing I was doing something else. Many people suffer from sleep disruptions and the action of being present may help you to find a more relaxed state. Perhaps you are new to mindfulness and want to start being in the moment this year. If that is you, remind yourself often that this is a practice, never for perfection. When you catch yourself multitasking, restless, or distracted, take a pause. If you need a break, try last week's daydreaming exercise again. Even the mindful attention to your breath can bring you into the present and out of the chaos. Be patient with yourself as you learn to renew your mind and body.
