Intention- Week 4

"Your life doesn't change by accident, it changes by intention."

-Jay Shetty

Jay Shetty encourages us to begin our day taking the time to set clear intentions. He stresses that these be pure and focused. The best time to set an intention would be after a morning meditation even if it's short. When we quiet the body and mind, we are in the best position to make better choices.

His next suggestion is the “weed and seed” list. When creating your to-do list, include why you are doing each task. Tasks driven by ego, envy, or competition are “weeds,” while those inspired by love, passion, or fulfillment are “seeds.

When do you set intentions in your daily life? Perhaps during yoga or meditation, when your attention is focused on that moment of the session. As we learned from this past month’s spiritual leaders, what we focus on grows. This practice of intention setting your goals can be brought into our daily activities, creating more clarity of what we desire.

This week, take a few minutes to meditate, quiet your mind, and write an intention for the day. Return to it during the day as a gentle reminder of your purpose. At the end of the day, reflect on whether your actions supported it, then begin the practice again tomorrow. Remember this is a practice, we learn from as we continue to formulate our desires.
