AWE- week 1
“He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed.”
In our hectic, distraction-filled lives, we may notice that awe is often missing. To invite more awe into our lives, we first need to understand what it is.
“Awe is one of those emotions you recognize the instant you feel it. It’s the feeling you get “when you encounter things that are vast and beyond your frame of reference,” says Dacher Keltner, a psychologist at the University of California, Berkeley, and author of Awe: The New Science of Everyday Wonder and How It Can Transform Your Life. “

Each week, we will explore a different part of life that can help us experience more awe. We don’t need to visit all the Wonders of the World to feel awe. While that would be amazing, it isn’t practical or accessible for everyone. What is available to us, is the simple act of noticing what is in front of you. I can remember walking home from school as a child with my friend and watching clouds. We never got tired of watching, especially on a gorgeous day. Clouds are also one of the wonders of the world.
This week, revisit one of the “wonders” from your childhood and experience it again. It may feel different now, but like ever-changing clouds, it can still spark a sense of magic and awe.
